Marigold is quietly confident with new chilled truck15 January 2018

London-based Marigold Health Foods has expanded its fleet, adding a new DAF LF 18-tonne rigid truck specified with Carrier Transicold’s Iceland engineless refrigeration system.

The Iceland undermount system was recommended by leasing provider Petit Forestier (UK), which highlighted the unit’s ability to run entirely on power generated by the truck’s Euro VI engine. The system helps to reduce environmental impact by cutting emissions and improving fuel efficiency, whilst also lowering maintenance costs.

Marigold Health Foods will primarily use the vehicle for deliveries across Greater London. As the ICELAND unit offers 100% refrigeration capacity at idle speed and operates at sound levels below 60 dB(A) – making it PIEK-compliant – it is ideally suited for the company’s intensive urban delivery schedule.

The DAF truck marks an expansion to Marigold’s seven-strong fleet and will accommodate business growth. It offers a 15-pallet load capacity, meeting the needs for larger, chilled multi-drop deliveries.

Supplied on a five-year contract from Petit Forestier (UK) Ltd., it will operate from Marigold’s headquarters in Tottenham and will also be used for the occasional delivery to Oxford, Brighton and the south coast.
