Make a date for new fuelcard system01 April 2016

Bunches of flowers from a garage forecourt may not be every woman’s favourite gift – but they are better than nothing, and a new fuel card system is being trialled to help forgetful drivers remember key dates such as wedding anniversaries and birthdays.

Dubbed Foolproof, the card from The Fuelcard People will alert the driver to a key date when refuelling, prompting them to buy flowers, a card or other gifts.

Steve Clarke, group marketing manager, says: “A driver stops to refuel on the way home after a long day. When he presents the Foolproof fuel card, the checkout terminal prints out a message, saying, ‘Today is your tenth wedding anniversary. Flowers and wine are good, don’t get chocolates.’... The fuel card saves him from making a fool of himself.”

The card, insists Clarke, is better than a mobile phone reminder, which may not ring true.

Online applications are being considered today (1 April): click the link below for more information.
