MAN celebrates young achievers08 November 2017

MAN Truck & Bus UK’s latest crop of talent has been recognised at the manufacturer’s apprentice of the year awards event.

Held at The Mere Resort, Cheshire, more than 200 guests were present to celebrate the 2017 winners and graduates, and Claire Young, a former contestant on the BBC’s The Apprentice, spoke about her experiences on the show and her career.

MAN’s apprenticeship scheme began 21 years ago with courses for technicians. It has now expanded to include trainees in the parts department, business administration and, for the first time this year, the sales department.

“The programme has been expanding and the number of placements has also been growing,” says Paul O’Cain, MAN’s head of UK service.

“This year’s intake was a record. We accepted 50 young people on our placements across four disciplines. In total we have had 1,000 apprentices through our books.”

Apprentice accolades presented at the event included: Zach Barsby, MAN Nuneaton (year 1); Neko Daniels, MAN Westbury (year 2); and MAN Nuneaton’s Christian Chirwa (year 3).
