MAN is top fleet choice for Topps Tiles21 March 2017

Topps Tiles has taken delivery of 20 new MAN trucks, after the vehicle manufacturer beat several other leading truck makers in a tender for the tile specialist’s order.

Topps Tiles now has 16 TGX 26.480 XLX tractors and four TGS 26.360 curtainsiders, all sporting the tile brand’s new livery.

The TGX tractors have the XLX sleeper cab, are plated at 44,000kg gtw and are equipped with a six-cylinder, 12.4-litre engine, delivering 480bhp at 1,800 rpm through a Tipmatic 12-speed transmission.

The TGS curtainsiders are plated at 26,000kg gvw and have a six-cylinder, 10.5-litre engine, delivering 360bhp at 1,800 rpm through a Tipmatic 12-speed transmission.

Kevin Smith, Topps Tiles’ national transport manager, says the tender process covered everything from tyres to running costs.

“MAN came through for us in terms of what they can offer,” says Smith. “It is an all-in-one package that delivers everything we were looking for.

“They were against all the other big manufacturers and did a really great job creating the package that won the tender.

“We have had a strong relationship with MAN and look forward to continuing this into the future.”

The vehicles are all supplied on an 18-month rental agreement and will be used on multi-drop runs throughout the UK.
