MAN plans to drive up competition in car transporter sector11 November 2015

MAN Truck and Bus UK looks set to move in on the car transporter market with the launch of a new 44-tonne 6x2 TGS, developed with bodybuilder Transporter.

Daryl Hymas, sales and commercial director for Essex-based Transporter, says his business is always striving to improve driver safety and comfort, while working within the confines of transport dimensions.

“MAN has been able to redesign its product to create a brand new TGS model that works with our latest body, the Evo 8,” he says.

“Height is a crucial consideration in our design and the new TGS, with its lower roofline, allows us to put a car over the cab without breaching the 4.6m restriction.

“The advent of Euro 6 meant that [some] cabs were raised to accommodate the extra technical requirements, but the new TGS offers a solution,” says Hymas.

Transporter is showing the newly developed Evo 8/TGS to its customers and, adds Hymas, is confident of its success.

The vehicle’s MAN engine delivers 440bhp and 2,100Nm of torque, and drives through a 12-speed TipMatic transmission.
