MAN reports strong start to 2014 with major truck and bus orders13 March 2014

Commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN is reporting a successful start to 2014, with several large orders. The Munich-based business says the deals include a total of 500 buses and 1,600 trucks.

Its Truck & Bus division is supplying 106 Euro 6 Lion City buses to Hungary's Volanbusz for operation in and around Budapest – Hungary's largest city bus order.

In Stockholm, operator Keolis Sverige has ordered 181 of MAN's Lion City buses: 127 are gas- and diesel-powered City G articulated buses, two are City M buses and 52 are hybrid buses. This is MAN's single biggest delivery to date of hybrid buses.

Notable truck orders include: 260 TGL tow trucks to Moscow's parking service; 150 heavy TGS WW 40.440 6x4 tracks to a building contractor in the United Arab Emirates; and 77 trucks for German operator Metro Logistics, comprising 66 TGX 4x2 semi-trailer tractors and 11 TGX 26.400 6x2 BL with refrigeration units.

"The orders are a sign of confidence," says Dr Georg Pachta-Reyhofen.
