MAN tippers added to Churngold Recycling fleet20 October 2011

Tipper operator Churngold Recycling has added six new MAN TGS 35.400 BB 8x4 tipper chassis to its operation.

Three units are for the Bristol-based company's 'soil surgery' service – a new venture that sees Churngold undertake on-site contaminated waste processing.

The TGS chassis are powered by 400bhp EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) engines, thus avoiding a requirement for AdBlue – a cost and inconvenience that Churngold says it is "happy to avoid".

Boweld supplied its 'Mightylite' muck-shifting bodywork, while the tipping gear specified was by Edbro.

The vehicles come with three-year R&M contracts, with service and maintenance undertaken at the Avonmouth Truck Centre, MAN Truck & Bus Bristol.

"We can sum-up the TGS muckaway chassis in two words: tough and reliable," comments Kevin Beasmore, transport manager at Churngold.

"While fuel economy is very important – we're already seeing an excellent 8.5mpg average from the new MAN trucks – productivity can be won and lost on reliability," he adds.

"The work is very heavy going and arduous, so our trucks need to meet the demands of the job, keeping them on the road not in the workshop."
