MAN to take over Indian CLA truck joint venture 22 November 2011

MAN Truck & Bus is to take over the Indian joint venture MAN Force Trucks Pvt by the end of this year, subject to the usual approvals.

The joint venture was founded in 2006 and produces heavy MAN CLA trucks for the Indian market and for export to countries in Asia and Africa.

Products range from chassis to tippers for the construction industry and semi-trailer tractors for long-haul transport, with MAN CLA enjoying a leading position in the growth markets.

"In the past few years we have greatly benefited from the experience of our partner Force Motors," comments Dr Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, CEO of MAN SE and MAN Truck & Bus AG.

"Its knowledge of the Indian market and its long-standing links to local suppliers have been a great help to us as we built up our activities in India," he adds. "Now we will expand this business on our own."

MAN Truck & Bus and Force Motors will be co-operating in future, too, with the latter continuing to supply parts and components for production of the MAN CLA.
