MAN Trafford Park is first VOSA ATF for the UK network 14 September 2010

MAN Truck & Bus Manchester is the first MAN dealership to be accredited as a VOSA ATF (Authorised Testing Facility) station for commercial vehicle MOTs.

MAN head of service John Davies says the Trafford Park site – which became MAN's flagship UK truck centre last June, following a £9 million investment – is the first of a number of other MAN dealer locations earmarked for VOSA's ATF status.

"It makes our one-stop-shop offering even more appealing," says Davies. "Flexibility is key here, and we can now book-in operators at their convenience. Manchester is just the first of what we hope will be a great many wholly-owned and private capital MAN dealers with VOSA's ATF endorsement."

Davies points to extended testing hours, greater flexibility on booking test slots and reduced travelling time for local operators – all of which, he says, will mean a significant reduction in down-time.

And Richard Smith, VOSA's programme director, echoes his views: "We're delighted that MAN, as a major manufacturer, is on-board with VOSA, and sharing our strategy of taking vehicle testing closer to where the trucks are maintained – it makes for common sense."
