Maritime Transport orders 330 trucks from Scania17 October 2019

Maritime Transport has confirmed orders with Scania for a total of 330 tractors for delivery during 2019/20, reaffirming its longstanding relationship with the marque.

The deal sees 260 trucks scheduled for delivery before the year end, with a further 70 due to enter service next year.

Supplied by dealer TruckEast, the Felixstowe-based operator’s new vehicles are 30 R410 4x2 405bhp models and 300 R450 6x2/2 mid-lift units with 444bhp engines. All will be equipped with Highline cabs and Scania’s Opticruise transmission.

“Maritime and Scania have enjoyed a long and healthy relationship at all levels, and we are pleased to be continuing our association into 2020 and beyond,” says Stuart Wardlaw, fleet director for Maritime Transport.

“The growth of our business, in addition to the fuel performance and overall reliability of the Scania product, has enabled us to place a significant order with the manufacturer and we look forward to putting these vehicles to work across our extensive depot network.”

The new trucks will be spread around Maritime’s 31 depots nationwide. The 4x2s will be used for distribution work, with the 6x2/2s running on both container and distribution operations.

The vehicles are expected to be in operation for at least five years and all are supplied with two-year Scania R&M contracts.
