Martin Brower UK keeps its cool, thanks to Carrier 05 August 2013

Logistics service provider Martin Brower UK is now putting 30 Vector 1950 MT (multi-temperature) trailer refrigeration units and eight Supra 950 MT models, from Carrier Transicold, into service.

The 1950 MT systems are the first on the Martin Brower fleet, and have been mounted to multi-compartment Gray & Adams semi-trailers.

They will operate from three distribution centres in Heywood, Hemel Hempstead and Basingstoke, clocking-up more than 4,000 hours of operation on the road a year.

Supplied on contract hire by Centurion Truck Rental, the trailers have been joined by eight new DAF CF65.250 rigid trucks, now equipped with the Supra 950 MT refrigeration units.

These complement a fleet of more than 300 vehicles, and are designed for locations that cannot be accessed by articulated vehicles.

Carrier Transicold claimed that its 1950 MT refrigeration system offers a 4% increase in capacity for a total of 18,800 watts, compared with the previous generation Vector 1850 MT unit.

Microchannel coils also contribute to cutting fuel consumption by approximately 10%, according to the company, as they enable a more compact design, so reducing refrigerant charge by up to 17%.
