Masternaut delivers remote real-time checking of one-minute rule28 April 2014

Masternaut has upgraded its telematics software to allow live simulation of one-minute rule calculations, which are part of EU regulations aimed at reducing fraud and administrative costs.

The new functionality gives fleet operators live, remote oversight of the one-minute rule calculations, enabling more accurate reporting on digital tachographs.

The one-minute rule, which calculates driving time according to EU Regulation 1266/2009, has been integrated into new digital tachographs – any activity of 30 seconds or less is ignored, registering a continuation of the previous activity. The result has been an average gain of driving time of 20-25 minutes a day.

"We calculate online how much driving time the driver has on a minute-by-minute basis and, depending what tachograph is installed in the truck, we simulate this algorithm in our software," explains Martin Hiscox, chairman and CEO of Masternaut.

"Fleet managers will no longer have to handle multiple platforms for telematics and tachograph functionality," he adds. "With this technology now on board, we will significantly assist fleet operators with their planning, real-time monitoring and compliance."
