Maze sees clear route to driver appeal with Volvo FH tractors23 March 2020

Maze Logistic Solutions has taken delivery of its first Volvo trucks, a pair of FH Globetrotter-cabbed 6x2 tractors, citing dealer support and driver recommendations.

Supplied by Volvo Truck & Bus Centre East Anglia, the 44-tonne tractors are powered by Euro VI-D 13-litre engines, producing 494bhp and 2,500Nm of torque.

The new additions to the 18-strong fleet are supplied on a four-year contract hire through Volvo Financial Services, with Volvo Gold R&M support, and will each cover around 130,000km a year pulling tri-axle skeletal trailers on container haulage duties across the UK.

When the operator decided to look at options for its new vehicles, several drivers recommended Volvo, saying the brand was “a step up in terms of durability, efficiency and on-board comfort”, says Ryan Jiggens, general manager of the Ipswich-based operator.

“It’s been a fabulous experience from the moment we made our initial enquiry, plus the demonstrator we trialled convinced us we were making the right decision,” he says.

The tractors are equipped with Volvo’s Dynafleet telematics solution, accessible 24/7 via a web portal, smartphone or tablet.

“We’re really excited for what Dynafleet can bring to our business, and the savings it will help us to unlock,” adds Jiggens.

“Previously we’ve tracked driver and vehicle performance via a series of Excel spreadsheets – now, Dynafleet is set to take our fleet management to a whole new level.”
