McNicholas rings the changes with 372 Volkswagen vans30 July 2015

Infrastructure services business McNicholas has awarded a 372-vehicle deal to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for Caddy Maxi and Transporter vans to meet increased demand for its telecoms team to install broadband services across the UK.

The contract is for 262 Caddy Maxi and 110 Transporter T26 models, with the Caddy Maxi chosen for its longer wheelbase. This will enable McNicholas engineers to transport equipment, including ladders, using bespoke racking within the vans instead of on the roof.

The vehicles are being taken on a five-year agreement through Volkswagen Financial Services, which includes all servicing and maintenance.

Each van will be supplied and supported by Citygate, which will facilitate PDI, logistics and oversee third party fitments. The van centre will ensure all vehicles are prepared and converted to McNicholas' specification, including graphics, racking and safety beacon installation.

"Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' vans are renowned for both their efficiency and reliability, and this was a major factor for us," says Spencer Ward, head of fleet for McNicholas.

"This, combined with the aftersales support provided by the company's dedicated van centre network and competitive finance packages offered by Volkswagen Financial Services, definitely helped to seal the deal," he says, adding that VW's broad range meant vehicles could be selected to suit the application without compromising on specification or performance.
