Mercedes-Benz provides mission control base10 June 2011

A communications firm has launched two mobile command and control units based on Mercedes-Benz vans equipped with roof-mounted satellite dishes.

Excelerate Technology's new long-bodied Vito 120CDIs have a comprehensive array of systems. Their prime role is to showcase the Cardiff-based company's products and expertise to existing and prospective customers.

Supplied by Tewkesbury dealer Mudie-Bond, with support from Mercedes-Benz UK, the new vans were converted by J S Fraser of Witney, which fitted workbenches and seating, before Excelerate Technology began the task of installing its own, extensive array of systems.

CEO David Savage, who founded the company in 2001, says: "We run a number of other Mercedes-Benz vehicles and enjoy close working relationships with the manufacturer and its dealer.

"The association works well as we are all leaders in our respective fields, providing first-class products backed-up unrivalled customer support."

He adds: "The response of existing and prospective customers to these two demonstration units has been very positive and they are definitely proving to be a real asset in our sales armoury."
