Mercedes-Benz Sprinters bed down with Starplan 08 November 2016

Dungannon, Northern Ireland-based bedroom furniture retailer Starplan has taken delivery of six Sprinter 314 CDI Long chassis cabs to work alongside its existing six Sprinters and two 7.5-tonne trucks, handling deliveries across mainland Britain.

Supplied by the Hull branch of dealer Northside Truck & Van, they have been fitted with high-capacity boxes by Alloy Bodies, of Manchester, to accommodate wardrobes up to 2.2-metres high.

All were specified with the Sprinter 314 CDI’s 143bhp Euro 6 four-cylinder engine and are the subject of CharterWay contract hire agreements from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

“We commissioned our first six Sprinters in 2012, then added more the following year,” comments Daniel McMurtry, Starplan’s operations manager for England.

“They’ve proved to be excellent performers, superbly reliable and very cost-effective to run,” he continues.

“We have also tried a few vans by another supplier, for comparison purposes, but they were no match for our Mercedes-Benz vehicles.”

McMurtry also says the support he gets from Mercedes-Benz is “first class”.

“Our vans are maintained by dealers who offer servicing outside our own working hours, which keeps downtime to an absolute minimum,” he states.

“They are also covered by the MobiloVan roadside assistance package, which includes free breakdown cover that lasts for 30 years.”
