Supplied by dealer Rygor Commercials, the west London-based operator’s first order was for 20 Arocs skiploaders – all 18-tonners with day ClassicSpace S-cabs, 238bhp engines and bodies by Boughton Engineering, of Wolverhampton.
In addition, it has now taken delivery of two Fuso Canter 7.5-tonne 7C15 models.
The move to Mercedes came after reliability issues with the previous marque, as Gowing & Pursey’s co-owner Charlie Ward explains: “We approached other suppliers and trialled a number of demonstrators.
“It was the Mercedes-Benz product, coupled with the attentive, professional approach of Rygor’s truck sales executive Rish Channa, that really shone out.”
His brother and co-owner Noel Ward adds: “The Arocs are flying – the drivers love them and not one of the trucks has missed a beat.
“Mercedes-Benz is in a different league when it comes to the all-round quality of its products, and their suitability for the job.”
All the vehicles are fitted with SmartWitness cameras and are supplied with funding from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
