Mercedes New Actros sparkles for drinks supplier08 July 2014

Drinks supplier Global Brands has taken delivery of its first Mercedes-Benz New Actros tractor, a 6x2 2545 model with the flat-floored BigSpace cab.

The new tractor unit is powered by Mercedes' 449bhp six-cylinder engine, with the PowerShift 3 automated transmission, and was supplied by dealer Mertrux on CharterWay contract hire through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

Working from Global Brands' main distribution hub in Burton upon Trent, the New Actros joins four other Mercedes tractors and a 26-tonne rigid.

"We've been a Mercedes-Benz customer for 15 years now," says transport manager Kevin Hopkinson.

"Its trucks have proved over that time to be very well engineered and extremely reliable, while they also have excellent cabs and are well-liked by our drivers."

The contract hire package includes full repair and maintenance cover – Mertrux also services the operator's other vehicles under Mercedes R&M contracts, carrying out inspections and maintenance outside working hours to minimise downtime.
