Mercedes releases six-speed dual clutch automatic Citan19 May 2016

The Mercedes-Benz Citan will be available from June with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Selected Citan 112 variants will be available to order with the new 6G-DCT automatic transmission. Citan panel van and Tourer models with the 112 petrol engine, says Mercedes, can benefit from the double clutch transmission, combining the comfort of a six-speed automatic transmission with the driving dynamics of a manual gearbox.

The six-speed dual-clutch transmission has two sub-transmissions, each with its own clutch. As one transmits drive to the wheels, the other has pre-selected the next gear – enabling smooth, seamless gear changes with no loss of tractive power.

The panel van costs from £15,820 (plus VAT); the Tourer long version is £17,900.
