Mercedes Sprinter ‘in a different league’ for Wharfside 12 September 2017

Bespoke furniture retailer Wharfside has taken delivery of its first Mercedes-Benz delivery van, a Sprinter 316 CDI Long chassis cab, declaring it to be “in a different league” from its previous van.

Supplied by dealer Rossetts Commercials, the East London-based operator’s new Sprinter has a high-volume, alloy Luton body by Kira (UK), of Essex, and is fitted with tie rails, a roller shutter door and 500kg Ratcliff column lift.

The van is also specified with several factory options, including air conditioning, a Comfort driver’s seat with armrest, uprated sat nav and audio system, and a reversing camera.

Wharfside’s warehouse and installations manager Laurie Heeney says: “In terms of comfort, driveability and all-round quality, the Sprinter is in a different league to its predecessor.”

He adds: “The body is also perfectly tailored to the job. It was built to the maximum permissible size for the chassis and has raves from top to bottom so we can securely carry furniture of all dimensions, while the Luton dome over the cab roof provides valuable additional storage.”

The Sprinter has a four-cylinder engine producing 163bhp and is already averaging 23.6mpg, compared to a maximum of 21mpg with the previous marque.

Standard safety features include the Adaptive ESP stability system, and the van has a three-year, unlimited mileage warranty along with MobiloVan cover for free UK and European roadside assistance.
