Merger application submitted by VW for MAN 24 August 2011

Volkswagen has submitted a formal merger control application to the EU Commission in Brussels, as part of its mandatory offer for shares in MAN.

The group says it remains confident that the requisite regulatory clearances will be forthcoming.

Volkswagen says that numerous authorities worldwide have already issued the relevant approvals in recent weeks,

These include competition and regulatory authorities in Germany, the USA, Japan, Mexico, Turkey, Israel, Croatia, Albania, Montenegro and Macedonia.

"Following receipt of all the necessary regulatory clearances and subsequent settlement of the mandatory offer, substantial synergies in the fields of procurement, development and production can be realised through a closer cooperation of MAN, Scania and Volkswagen," reads a statement from the company.
