Meritor teams with MKR Technology-Renault Trucks for 2010 21 May 2010

ArvinMeritor is partnering with MKR Technology-Renault Trucks to support its racing team during the 2010 European Truck Racing Championship season.

The heavy-duty axle and braking giant is equipping the team's trucks with superlight, high efficiency axles that include aluminium components, laser welded differentials and its newly designed ELSA air disc brakes.

Alessandro Mortali, vice president truck Europe for ArvinMeritor, explains that the firm will also be providing technical personnel for race-day assistance.

"Racing gives ArvinMeritor a unique opportunity to both support our customers and validate our technologies' performance and durability," says Mortali. "And while we all have a passion for this sport, we get equally excited by the significant developments that result from our participation."

The MKR Technology-Renault Trucks team is managed by Mario Kress, a celebrity in the discipline with eight European titles to his credit. This season the team is running with a pair of trucks driven by Swiss Markus Bösiger and German Markus Oestreich. .

On the track, the trucks ramp up some 1,110 hp from 1,600 rpm to 2,200 rpm, with a torque of 5,100 Nm at 1,400 rpm and a maximum engine speed of 2,400 rpm. In just seven seconds, these powerhouses go from 60kph to 160kph.
