Metal recycling firm stays local with third Volvo addition24 January 2019

Yorkshire-based KA Anderson Metal Recyclers has taken delivery of its third Volvo truck – an FL rigid skiploader – after positive performance from its two Volvo FM tractors, acquired last year.

The operator also returned to Crossroads Truck and Bus, in Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, for its latest order after enjoying high levels of service and as part of its policy to support local businesses.

The new arrival is equipped with a short Day Cab, a vertical exhaust stack and all round steel suspension. It has a 3,800mm wheelbase chassis powered by a Volvo D8K engine producing 247bhp and paired with a six-speed I-Sync automated gearbox, as well as a PTO-driven Harsh skip body.

“The truck is completely new for us, as we’ve recently moved over to Harsh equipment,” says Keith Anderson, owner of the recycling business.

“Once again, the reason behind this was local service, as Harsh’s headquarters are in nearby York.”

The Volvo trucks are all supplied with five-year Volvo R&M contracts, with work carried out in the late evening to minimise disruption levels.

“The evening drop-offs work well at Crossroads Truck and Bus and we collect our trucks the next morning,” adds Anderson.
