Mick George taps into cost savings with Masternaut05 April 2016

Construction business Mick George is reporting reduced driver risk and immediate cost savings after implementing the Masternaut Connect telematics solution.

After evaluating several systems, the operator says Masternaut Connect came out on top with its straightforward driver behaviour management and user-friendly tools, as well as its ability to provide information on one platform.

Reports are delivered in an easily viewable traffic light format – green, amber and red – and in-cab feedback uses the same formula to help drivers to improve driving behaviour.

The operator is using the system to underpin training in its driver academy.

The first stage of the migration involved 250 HGVs and was implemented over five weeks; phase two saw the system fitted to vans and cars.

A two-week rolling report highlights those drivers who are in the red, so training and assistance can be given.

Four months in and savings of 5% have been realised in vehicles fitted and activated – this is expected to rise to 9% by the end of the first year as more vehicles are fitted and training is carried out.

“The support and driver materials we have received from Masternaut are great,” says Jonathan Willmore, procurement manager at Mick George.

“We are already seeing results in improved driver behaviour and efficiency savings. We now need to keep up this momentum.”
