MICOR Demolition chooses Volvo FM for clearance fleet 11 November 2010

Chelmsford-based MICOR Demolition has taken delivery of a fourth Volvo FM tipper, for operation with its waste clearance and recycling fleet.

The FM13 380hp 8x4 truck was specified with a 12-speed Volvo I-Shift automated gearbox, together with software for construction and off-road applications.

It also has a Multilift RO-RO body and auto sheeting, and was bought on a service contract from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.

Says MICOR managing director Mike Corridan: "We need a robust vehicle with a transmission that is easy to control and allows the driver to move about on site with accuracy. I-Shift takes care of that for us."

He adds that the new truck will be working on contracts all over the UK, including trackside infrastructure demolition for Network Rail. "Volvo's Driving+ package and the Globetrotter cab have been added to the spec to keep our drivers comfortable, as they will be away from home," he says.

The spec also includes a climate unit with automatic air conditioning, a CD/MP3 player, Bluetooth phone and interior red lights for night driving.

"The trucks are serviced overnight by the Volvo Dealerpoint in Ipswich and our drivers are given a loan car. That means no downtime so we can just get on with the job," comments Corridan.
