Minibus refurbishment programme launched 02 June 2011

Conversion and mobility specialist Stanford Coachworks says it has developed a cost-effective solution to revitalising fatigued minibuses.

Dubbed the Vehicle Improvement Programme (VIP), the Essex-based firm's initiative involves three levels of work – bronze, silver and gold – to suit different budgets, timeframes and requirements.

"We understand the need for organisations to improve their vehicles, rather than simply replace them [when] times are hard," explains Stanford co-director Jess Rider.

"The VIP service offers a great opportunity for many minibus owners and companies to add years to the life of their vehicles and save considerable money in the long run."

And he has one very happy customer in George Brown, bus manager for Melksham Council of Community Service. "Our vehicle was old, built on a good quality chassis and with low mileage. However, it needed a complete face lift and an improved, updated interio," he says.

"We went for the gold package after joint consultations and the whole vehicle was completely restored and repainted, to our specifications, giving it a fresh new appearance. The whole package was good value, with top quality work and materials, with hands on approach by management."

Brown says it was a cost effective solution, "saving £1,000's, compared to a new bus".

Rider says the VIP service provides full body, tyre, engine level (apart from mechanical), fire extinguisher and first aid safety checks, plus legal decal reporting. Once the vehicle has received Stanford's VIP treatment, the owner gets a certification, in accordance to ISO9001/2008 quality procedures, he adds.
