Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W/30 reformulated for Euro 6 engines 29 May 2013

ExxonMobil has reformulated its synthetic heavy-duty diesel engine oil Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W/30, claiming that commercial vehicle operators can not only optimise engine performance but also improve fuel economy.

The new oil has more approvals than its predecessor, and ExxonMobil says it meets the requirements of the majority of Euro 6 engines developed by OEMs such as Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Cummins and MAN.

Ahmet Aras, CVL marketing supervisor for ExxonMobil, makes the point that the new oil has been formulated in line with the sensitivities of Euro 6 after-treatment packages.

With its low SAPS (low sulphated ash, phosphorous and sulphur) formulation, the new Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W/30 can deliver outstanding emission system protection for modern engines, including Euro 6, he says.

As for fuel efficiency, independent tests conducted at Millbrook, using two Volvo FM 440 Euro 5 trucks loaded to 75% gvw (circa 44,000kg), showed that Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W/30 achieves average fuel savings of 1.8% under highway driving conditions.

"With our new Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W/30, we have created an advanced heavy-duty diesel engine oil that can meet the technical requirements of current and future engines and deliver valuable sustainability-related benefits," comments Aras.

Along with enhanced emission system protection and fuel economy potential, Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W-30 offers several additional performance advantages, he adds, citing: better wear protection; extended drain interval capability; excellent low temperature performance; and outstanding thermal and oxidation stability.
