More CV Show debut revelations for a packed event 30 March 2015

Continental Tyres, Kalmar, Millbrook, Stoneridge, Terberg DTS, TopBlue, Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, Vision Techniques and WheelRight are among the latest to reveal their CV show highlights (14—16 April 2015, NEC, Birmingham).

Continental says it intends to introduce a range of products and services at the show, the point being to demonstrate how the right tyres can help operators to achieve lowest overall running costs.

The new line-up includes: the ContiRe CityService tyre, a retread developed for waste and refuse vehicles; Conti Hybrid 22.5 drive and trailer tyres, which complete the roll-out of its Generation 3 Hybrid range; and a new radial tyre in Continental's Specialty range, used in ports and harbours on terminal tractors and trailers.

Elsewhere, Kalmar will be showing its terminal tractors, with a timeline tracing decades of experience. Leading the product range at the CV Show will be the TT612d distribution tractor, which is claimed to offer excellent manoeuvrability and visibility, as well as low ownership costs. It also incorporates a fuel-efficient, high-torque engine including stop-start operation.

Millbrook – the automotive engineering centre and proving ground – will be using the CV Show to illustrate its capabilities in truck and bus. Its key focus will be the firm's portable emissions measurement system (PEMS), used in its partnership with TfL (Transport for London) to audit emissions reduction in the capital.

As for Stoneridge, visitors can expect to see the firm's new Exakt Duo2 digital tachograph, making its show debut. Duo Technology provides drivers with real-time information on drive and rest times, with warnings as they near driving limits.

Visitors can also view Stoneridge's range of brake testing and tachograph calibration systems, including the launch of a VOSA-approved tachograph test and calibration capability.

Meanwhile, Terberg DTS is promising the "first-ever market specific, specialist distribution tractor" in the UK and Europe.

The all new DT183 was designed for what the firm describes as the competitive pan-European distribution sector. It uses a new Cummins Tier 4 Final diesel engine matched to an Allison gearbox and visitors will be able to check out its range of innovative safety and ergonomic operating features.

Moving on, TopBlue is a new supplier of AdBlue in the UK, boasting its own blending plants and what it sees as innovations for large UK fleets. The firm, part-owned by a subsidiary of Sinopec (one of China's largest petrochemical companies), began operations late in 2014. This year, the company will launch seven blending plants in the UK, which it says means it can offer fleets "unrivalled levels of customer service".

Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles will be launching its new Corsavan, coinciding its debut with the van's first appearance in Vauxhall dealerships."Vauxhall's all-new Corsavan is stylish, comfortable and affordable to run," comments Steve Bryant, Vauxhall's head of commercial vehicle brand.

He points to a four years 0% APR representative finance, four years' free servicing, four years' roadside assistance and four years' warranty. Service intervals are one year or 20,000 miles.

Meanwhile, Vision Techniques will be demonstrating its new video analytics camera system that it says can detect approaching cyclists and warn drivers, both visibly and audibly. The system, called TurnAware, is installed to cover a vehicle's blind spot – and the company says it can recognise when a hazard is moving towards the vehicle and ignore objects moving away.

Finally, WheelRight says it will demonstrate its new simultaneous tyre pressure and vehicle weigh-in-motion measurement technology for the first time at the CV Show. The system has received National Measurement Office (NMO) accreditation to the globally recognised WiM standard OIL R134 – which is a first.
