More Mercedes-Benz Sprinters for Lodge Tyre09 October 2013

Tyre maintenance and replacement service firm Lodge Tyre has shown its confidence in Mercedes-Benz Sprinters by plumping for six more Medium-length 313 CDI BlueEfficiency vans to add to its existing fleet of 90 vans, which is already dominated by Sprinters.

The company, which runs its vans for five years and 250,000 miles, says it's a tough life for the Sprinters, but that the Mercedes-Benz manufactured vans take it in their stride.

"We know from experience that the Sprinter is a very well-built van," says Martyn Lodge, financial director of the firm.

"When we stand down our vans they've often covered 250,000 miles or more but invariably they're still running well, and because of that they still command a strong resale value," he continues.

"Operating costs over that sort of lifespan are extremely competitive, largely because they just don't break down."

Lodge's new Sprinter BlueEfficiency vans come fitted as standard with features to maximise fuel performance – including low rolling resistance tyres and the ECO-Start system, which automatically cuts the engine when the vehicle is stationary.

"The service from Mertrux is excellent too. We maintain our vehicles in-house but the dealer keeps a constant stock of parts in our workshop, so anything we need is always to hand," says Lodge.
