Multi-role patient transports are first from O&H 19 July 2016

O&H Vehicle Conversions has unveiled a first of a kind ‘four layout options in one’ PTS (patient transport) vehicle that can be configured for seated, stretcher, wheelchair and bariatric layouts.

Dubbed Flex PTS, it is currently based on the Peugeot Boxer 435 platform and conforms to Care Quality Commission standards.

According to O&H marketing director Lee Bott, the new multi-role vehicle enables quick version-to-version change-out.

It also keeps operator and maintenance training to a minimum and reduces the need for short-term or ‘spot’ hire, he says.

“Our Flex PTS vehicles can be configured to flex with changing demand from NHS Trusts, private PTS providers and hire companies” explains Bott.

“Flex PTS will also reduce our levels of manufacturing change control – a saving that we would expect to pass onto the customer,” he continues.

“For example the Flex PTS cab and saloon is common to all versions, as with the aerospace industry’s Airbus series.”

And he adds that, from an engineerin perspective, the company also uses lightweight, high-strength aerospace-type build materials, aimed at increasing vehicle durability while also reducing weight, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
