New £2.3m truck wash facility in Cheshire12 July 2019

Europe’s largest truck wash Lymm Truckwash is investing £2.3 million by relocating to a new, purpose-built site.

Currently based at Lymm Services, at J20 of the M6 and J9 of the M56, near Warrington, the facility will move to the opposite side of the A50 this autumn.

The company is promising an improved experience for drivers thanks to the installation of state-of-the-art equipment at a more convenient location. It will also secure the long-term future of its staff.

Laura Cardwell, managing director of Lymm Truckwash and daughter of the founders, says: “The new facility will feature state-of-the-art WashTec washes, alongside a bespoke pressure washer system and payment system with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).

“The site will also be quicker and easier for our customers to access from the motorway because they’ll no longer have to enter and exit Lymm Services.”

Founded in 1967, Lymm Truckwash washes more than 60,000 trucks a year. The decision to move was made three years ago after it was discovered the lease at the services couldn’t be extended beyond December 2019.

Cardwell adds: “We undertook professional market research and this showed that 80% of our customers drive into the services simply for a wash and don’t use any other facilities. This gave us the confidence to secure planning permission and buy the site opposite.”
