New Actros builds on firm foundations for Dunne 16 November 2012

Scottish building and civil engineering contractor Dunne Group has taken delivery of a New Actros tractor unit from Mercedes-Benz as it expands into the South of England.

The company bought its New Actros 2545 to service a newly opened depot in London, and the tractor unit is now trunking daily from the central belt of Scotland.

Supplied by Edinburgh dealer Western Commercial, the truck has been fitted with an aerodynamic StreamSpace cab and is powered by a 450bhp straight-six engine, driving through the latest Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 automated transmission.

Currently running a fleet of 35 trucks, in which 8x4 tippers feature heavily, Dunne Group's New Actros is being joined in London by a pair of Montracon 45ft flatbed trailers.

"We already run some Actros trucks so we know they are efficient and reliable," says operations director John McCormack, adding that the new model is also "a strikingly good-looking vehicle".

And he comments: "It's making an average of 10 trips up and down the M6 and M1 each week, which means it's highly visible and is certainly fulfilling our requirement for a smart flagship truck to raise the profile of our business."
