New Eurocargo voted International Truck of the Year 2016 18 November 2015

Iveco’s New Eurocargo medium segment truck has been named International Truck of the Year 2016 by a panel of road testers from 25 countries across Europe.

The award follows Iveco’s award of the International Truck of the Year 2013 title for its Stralis tractor unit and the 2015 win for New Daily. Iveco also took the International Coach of the Year 2016 with the Magelys.

“Iveco has delivered a new medium duty truck that, once again, raises the bar in a highly competitive segment in which Eurocargo has set the market benchmark in the last 25 years,” comments International Truck of the Year chairman Gianenrico Griffini.

The vote was announced yesterday (17 November 2015) at Solutrans, the biennial road transport trade show in Lyon, France.

“We are very proud of this recognition for New Eurocargo – a vehicle we’ve labelled ‘the truck the city likes’, because it is respectful of people and the environment,” comments Pierre Lahutte, Iveco brand president, who received the award from Griffini during the show’s gala dinner.

“With half a million sales worldwide, Eurocargo has held the lead in the European medium truck segment for years,” he continues.

“What’s more, we are the only truck and bus manufacturer to have four ‘vehicles of the year’ in production – a strong recognition of the investment the group has made in our product range renewal.”

The International Truck of the Year is presented annually to the vehicle introduced into the market in the previous 12 months judged to have made the greatest contribution to road transport efficiency.

It is based on criteria including technical innovation, comfort, safety, driveability, fuel economy, total cost of ownership and environmental footprint.
