New Fuso Canter delivers for biomass fuel firm 01 July 2015
Island Sustainable Heat & Power (iSHP) is delivering wood pellets from a mini fuel tanker, based on one of the UK’s first 8.55-tonne Fuso Canters.
Delivered by dealer Sparshatts of Kent, the Isle of Wight-based firm's Canter 9C18 has bodywork by Hooklift Solutions, of Cheshire.
iSHP is a subsidiary of established wood chip and pellet supplier Clark's Mechanical. Director Simon Clarke was looking for the ideal delivery vehicle, but the 7.5-tonne Canter was too small. He approached Hooklift Solutions, but says its smallest tanker was too big, at 16 tonnes with a 9-tonne pellet capacity.
The new 8.55-tonne Canter, however, enables 4.5 tonnes of pellets to be transported – and the vehicle offers similar manoeuvrability to a 7.5-tonner.
The vehicle is powered by a 175bhp common-rail engine, driving through a fully automated Duonic dual clutch transmission.
