New Optare Metrocity for Safeguard Coaches04 August 2017

Guildford-based operator Safeguard Coaches has taken delivery of its latest Optare Metrocity, which has been named after long-serving employee Linda Chambers, who retires after 28 years with the firm.

The 10.8m, Cummins Euro 5 Metrocity with Allison 2100 transmission, seats up to 37 and joins Safeguard’s 10-strong fleet – nine of which are Optare buses.

Safeguard has also purchased another Metrocity to the same specification, which is expected to join the fleet in September.

Andrew Halliday, managing director at Safeguard Coaches, says: “This is the first time Safeguard has named one of its fleet after a retiring staff member, and signifies what a huge role Linda has played in the company’s history.”
