Supplied by dealer S&B Commercials, the Uxbridge-based operator’s new arrivals are all 314 CDI L3 H2 variants, with long bodies and high roofs, and are supplied on flexible funding agreements with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
The vans are powered by 2.1-litre engines that produce 141bhp and drive the rear wheels – the new Sprinter is also available, for the first time, with front-wheel drive.
Woods Foodservice supplies chefs with general and specialist dry, chilled and frozen ingredients. The cargo bays of its latest Sprinters are divided into three compartments – most of the space is used for carrying ambient goods, with 20% allocated to chilled and 10% to frozen product. The eutectic system of temperature control is used, with portable boxes cooled overnight. Each vehicle typically makes between 10 and 25 deliveries per day.
The operator has used Sprinters for 12 years, with logistics manager Sam Durrant citing reliability and brand image as reasons for making the switch: “It has proved a wise decision.”
As well as a redesigned cab interior and 4G internet connectivity, the new Sprinter features the Mercedes MBUX infotainment system with voice control function as standard. In addition, Mercedes PRO connect provides operators with access to a range of vehicle management services.
The latest version also has Active Brake Assist with pedestrian recognition technology and AttentionAssist, to alert drivers when drowsiness is detected.
