New Volvo FM truck makes debut on European road tour 08 March 2013

Volvo is giving a favoured few the chance to see its new FM truck ahead of the official launch on 19 March 2013 – and inviting sharp-eyed photographers to enter a competition.

Two of the latest unmasked vehicles from the Swedish manufacturer – which will feature Volvo Dynamic Steering – have embarked on a two-week-long tour around Europe.

"The new Volvo FM will provide drivers with a completely new level of handling and an innovative cab environment," says Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo Trucks.

"Transport companies will have an efficient truck with increased flexibility," he adds.

Volvo Dynamic Steering combines a conventional hydraulic power steering system with an electronically-regulated electric motor, fitted to the steering gear.

The system is claimed to give the driver "effortless steering at low speeds, as well as unbeatable directional stability on the open road".

Meanwhile, sharpest-eyed paparazzi who spot and shoot the new FM truck on its tour route could be in line for a prize from Scania.

"We want the public to send us the first snapshots of the new truck. The images will be published on a dedicated website and winners will be invited to an exclusive test drive of the new truck in Gothenburg," states Jeff Bird, director press tests at Volvo Trucks.

Both trucks have started their tour in Spain. Watch out for distinctive stripes and go to the competition site at the link below.
