NewCold freezing out the competition with Volvo tractor order26 June 2017

NewCold Advanced Cold Logistics has taken delivery of 36 Euro V1 Volvo FH tractors as part of a fleet upgrade.

Additionally, the company has expanded the automated 40m-high cold storage warehouse in Wakefield, Yorkshire originally opened in 2015 with 87,500 pallet locations to reach a total storage capacity of over 143,000 pallets with frozen food produce.

The cold store is combined with an expanding in-house transport operation, consisting of 48 reefer trailers, including double-deckers.

Newcold dispatch bays are kept at -20C to maintain cold chain integrity and maximise product quality, while most conventional stores prepare pallets for despatch in chilled or ambient bays.

NewCold has set up national distribution transport operations in France, Germany, Poland, and now offers international transport activities between its different European operations using customer production facilities and NewCold cold stores as hubs.

“We’re now working with major ice-cream company Froneri, bringing product into the UK from their European factories. They are based all over Europe but we are predominantly bringing a lot of products over from Germany,” says country director Jon Miles.
