Next-generation Scania vehicles ‘no brainer’ for LinkLine20 July 2017

Wellingborough-based haulier LinkLine has taken delivery of four next-generation Scania R 500 trucks, citing fuel efficiency and dealer support as key reasons for the deal.

Supplied through dealer TruckEast, the new additions have been acquired on contract hire with full R&M.

“The mpg is fantastic, it really was a no brainer,” says James Bowes, LinkLine’s commercial director.

“When considering our options, we talked to companies we work with and trust that were already running the product, and they confirmed what we’d already heard about its performance.”

Bowes says it is vital to have fleet reliability with support when it matters – “and my experience with TruckEast has delivered just that to date”.

The fleet operates on nationwide trunking with overnight stops, so driver comfort was “a must”, he adds.

“We opted for premium specification, which came with leather seats, sat nav, bluetooth, an uprated media system, larger bunk and rear storage lockers to name a few,” says Bowes.

“As the next-generation models boast even more room inside the cabs, it really does deliver a spacious and enjoyable working environment.”

The new vehicles are expected to be in service for three years.
