Nominations open for Microlise driver of the year awards08 December 2016

The search is on for the UK’s best truck drivers, as nominations are now open for the Microlise driver of the year awards.

The main award is based on analysis of telematics performance data for more than 110,000 drivers to find the best three short, medium and long distance drivers in the country.

There are five other categories open to all drivers, regardless of whether they use Microlise telematics: young driver, most improved driver, lifetime achievement, HGV hero and ‘extra mile’.

For the short, medium and long categories, anonymous Microlise data from 2016 will be analysed, before further qualification of shortlisted drivers via questionnaires completed by their employers.

An independent judging panel will produce a shortlist of three drivers across all categories – both data and nomination based – as well as the winners.

All shortlisted drivers will win a track day. The results will be announced at the awards ceremony held the evening before the Microlise Transport Conference on 17 May.

“Since 2015 the scope and scale of the awards has grown – but we are staying close to our initial mission of recognising the very best in our industry,” says Bob Harbey, executive director at Microlise.

“Telematics data continues to play a crucial role – but we are also asking transport professionals to nominate their best drivers across other categories, putting them forward for the recognition they deserve.”

Entries close on 24 February 2017. Nominations should be made through the Microlise Transport Conference website: click the link below.
