NTM rates compact Fuso Canter for RCV customers24 February 2020

Bodybuilder NTM GB says its range of refuse collection vehicles on the Mercedes-Benz Fuso Canter chassis is so proving popular that its latest two builds were sold before completion.

Bought by a UK waste management business, the 7.5-tonners are both 7C15 variants, with chassis supplied by dealer Euro Commercials.

NTM specified the Comfort day cabs with optional automatic climate control systems. The vehicles have 3.0-litre diesel engines producing 148bhp with 370Nm of torque, and driving through Duonic dual-clutch automated transmissions.

The trucks have 2.8m wheelbases and, says NTM, are the ideal size to accommodate its K-Series bodywork, designed for domestic collections and suitable for routes with restricted access. The latest two vehicles have K-Midi bodies, offering a load volume of 4.6m3 and a payload allowance of 2.2 tonnes.

At its Kidderminster factory, NTM pre-builds Canters for immediate delivery to operators. It has also fitted compactor bodies to low-entry Mercedes-Benz Econics.

“The Canter is definitely the most popular 7.5-tonner for our customers, so we regularly build stock vehicles on this chassis,” says Tim Prince, NTM’s area sales manager.

“It’s all about payload. The Canter will carry the best part of a tonne more than most trucks in its gross weight segment, and with our K-Midi body offers exceptionally high levels of productivity.”
