Supplied by dealer Roanza Truck & Van, the Stoke-on-Trent-based operator’s new addition joins a 36-strong fleet which is converted to all-Mercedes vehicles.
The Actros1 is based on the 6x2 chassis with GigaSpace cab. Genesis has specified the top-rated 617bhp, 15.6-litre, OM473 straight-six engine; a more economical alternative is available in the shape of the 12.8-litre OM471 with 523bhp output.
The vehicle is also equipped with the Uptime sensor-based maintenance system, which enables the dealer to order parts in advance and ensure maximum vehicle uptime.
Like all Actros tractors, the limited edition also features Fleetboard telematics, giving real-time tracking of vehicles as well as driver and vehicle performance data.
Genesis 2014’s biggest customer is online retailer Amazon. As well as transporting parcels throughout the UK, the operator regularly sends trucks to Italy, Spain and Portugal, and east into Poland and the Czech Republic.
“Every delivery is time sensitive, so we cannot afford to have a truck sat in the workshop,” says owner Marcus Hughes.

Fuel performance is impressive, too, he adds: “We’re running light much of the time, but figures of 12-13mpg are a lot better than we were getting from our previous trucks.”
This is helped by the truck’s Predictive Powertrain Control system. It is also specified with the manufacturer’s Safety Pack, which includes Active Brake Assist 4 emergency braking and Proximity Control Assist systems, plus a driver’s airbag, as well as an optional, high-performance engine brake and tyre pressure monitor.
