Operator licensing is underpinned by commitments such as keeping vehicles roadworthy, adhering to drivers’ hours rules and complying with licence undertakings – all of which are non negotiable.
That’s the reminder from Scotland’s traffic commissioner Joan Aitken (pictured), who warned a haulier at a recent public inquiry that complying with the rules is not a tick box exercise.
The inquiry concluded with the company’s licence being curtailed – with the loss of seven vehicles initially, for three months.
