Oakfield Plant has ‘optimum combination’ with Scania XT and Loadmaster Lite13 April 2018

Nottingham-based tipper operator Oakfield Plant & Transport has taken delivery of four new Scania vehicles fitted with Loadmaster Lite bodies, by Thompsons.

Paired with Scania’s XT 8x4 chassis, the proven Loadmaster Lite bodies are “the optimum combination”, according to the operator.

Put to work on every type of job from heavy-duty site clearance to delivering quarry products, the new XTs with their single-skin steel bodies have an 18,500kg-plus payload, with a 444bhp engine, auto gearbox and a large cab.

The trucks also feature air-operated, automated tailgates and are fitted with Scania retarders for improved braking performance.

“We really want the best trucks we can get and pairing the Loadmaster with the XT is surely the optimum combination,” says Alex Bausor, Oakfield’s transport manager.

“What ultimately counts, though, is how much sheer work the truck can deliver for us … Whatever the chassis, we come back for the Loadmaster Lite again and again because its complete reliability gives us zero downtime.”
