OnPoint pinpoints premium model from DAF - UPDATED11 February 2019

Birmingham-based haulier OnPoint Logistics has taken delivery of its first DAF vehicles, two XF530 FTG three-axle tractors, and says it is already seeing evidence of “excellent” fuel economy.

Supplied by dealer Imperial Commercials, the Super Space Cab XFs will be trialled against other premium trucks in the operator’s 95-strong fleet.

OnPoint’s operations director Anthony Delaney explains: “We have seen DAF’s six-wheel Super Space Cab in a number of high-profile fleets, so we felt it time to benchmark the truck against our other premium duty fleet models.”

He adds: “Initial feedback from our drivers is very favourable indeed; early signs of excellent fuel economy are also evident and I’m looking forward to seeing how the DAF XF acquits itself long term against our more established models.”

OnPoint is also taking delivery of seven new tri-axle trailers from Winsford-based Tiger Trailers. The new curtainsided trailer fleet comprises straight-frame and new double-deck ‘tall-boy’ trailers. They are among the first to be produced at Tiger Trailers’ new £22 million manufacturing facility on the Winsford Industrial Estate.

The delivery of ‘new’ trailer product also marks a departure for OnPoint, which has previously acquired its trailers through the used market.
