Operator calls time on rental with contract hire Euro 5 trucks from Ryder12 September 2014

Drinks Enterprises has taken delivery of five Euro 5 derogated trucks in its first contract hire deal with Ryder.

The London-based business has been hiring trucks from Ryder on short- and long-term rental for almost two decades, but has switched to a five-year contract hire agreement to secure some of Ryder's remaining stocks of Euro 5 derogated trucks. The contract fixes the company's rental and maintenance costs for the next five years.

Bodies on the 26-tonne curtainsiders have been custom built to 30cm lower than standard height, so they can pass under low bridges and tunnels in and around London.

The five trucks will operate from the company's depot in Southall, West London. Ryder's Feltham-based support team will be performing preventative maintenance on the trucks out of hours, minimising disruption.

"We are delighted to have secured some of Ryder's remaining derogated Euro 5 trucks on contract hire," says Rashpal Jabble, Drinks Enterprises' managing director. "Fixing our transportation costs for the next five years gives us more certainty over our outgoings and helps with future planning for the business."
