Their new vehicle is based on Whale Tanker’s BioWhale, as launched at Hotelympia, the UK’s largest hospitality show, in February (2016).
Whale developed this patented BioWhale vacuum storage unit to be used exclusively by OWL as a total food waste system – and believes that it will “set the standard” for food waste management in hotels and restaurants, schools and universities, hospitals and prisons, and among food producers.
“This is a particularly exciting project for us and we’re looking forward to working with OWL on developing this opportunity for the UK food service market,” comments Mark Warmington, managing director at Whale Tankers.
“By enabling fewer waste collections, it is possible to reduce the amount of journeys and in turn, carbon footprint,” he continues.
“In addition, by making it simpler to recycle food waste, we are playing an important role in increasing the supply of renewable energy in the UK.”
