Paralympic competitor strikes gold with DAF LF conversion23 September 2014

Paralympic double gold medallist Natasha Baker MBE has taken delivery of a specially converted DAF LF, to transport her horses to competitions around the UK and Europe.

Based on the DAF LF 18-tonner, the Euro 6 Paccar-engined horsebox has been converted by Whittakers Coachbuilders and the high spec includes luxury bathroom, slide-out extension to maximise living space, air conditioning, underfloor heating and a monitoring system for the horses' area.

The vehicle, nicknamed 'Daphne' by its owner, can take up to four horses and has a bespoke design, including an exterior locker to accommodate Natasha's mobility scooter, as well as internal modifications to meet her needs.

Phil Moon, DAF's UK marketing manager, says it's one of the "most beautiful, unusual and definitely most luxurious" conversions of the vehicle he's ever seen.

"With its generous payload, efficient engines and cleaner emissions, this proves the new LF is perfect as anything from a modern distribution truck to a horsebox," he adds.
