Peugeot charges in with electric Partner van 10 September 2012

An expanded Peugeot Partner van range will see an all-electric version of the commercial vehicle introduced.

According to the company, its Partner Electric offers "responsible mobility and unequalled ease of driving, without making any compromises in the strengths that constitute the success of the Partner".

And Peugeot cites modularity, practicality and a load volume among the best in the segment.

Launching at next week's Hannover CV show and based on the conventinal Partner, the van is equipped with an electric drivetrain fitted under the bonnet.

Two lithium-ion battery packs, having a capacity of 22.5kW/h, are fitted to the van underbody, either side of the rear axle – so they preserve the van's road handling behaviour as well as the useable dimensions of the load space.

The van's permanent magnet, synchronous electric motor boasts power of 49kW (67bhp) and torque of 200Nm, while the battery pack offers an impressive range of 170km on multi-drop duty cycles.

To make it suitable for all types of daily use, Partner Electric benefits from two charging modes: a normal charge (up to 16A) in six to nine hours, and a fast charge (up to 125A) allowing recovery of 80% of battery capacity in 30 minutes.

The new Partner, restyled in spring 2012, has excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions on its internal combustion versions. Notable new models include one coming in at 118g/km CO2 from November 2012.
