P&H Contract Services confirms Effitrailer fleet update 05 January 2017

Fashion logistics specialist P&H Contract Services is fitting Michelin Solutions’ Effitrailer telematics package to 20 of its semi-trailers as part of its fleet renewal programme, stating that trials proved it to be “incredibly useful”.

The three-year deal includes the six Effitrailer-equipped Cartwright trailers used in the pilot, plus an additional six Don-Bur trailers, as well as two new Don-Bur double-deckers and six more single-deck Cartwrights later in 2017.

“During the pilot we were impressed by the sheer amount of data Effitrailer provides,” comments Shaun Gent, director at Heywood-based freight operator.

“Being able to both track our fleet in real time and constantly check on the assets’ tyre pressures and weight distribution is incredibly useful,” he continues.

“It allows us to handle any trailer tyre-related issues promptly, with no disruption to day-to-day operations.”

In fact, Gent says tyre-related breakdowns dropped to zero on the six pilot trailers.

“By installing the system, we can confidently assure our customers that we know exactly where their order is at all times – and we can even tell them when it will arrive, to the minute,” he adds.

In operation, real-time data is sent to a fleet manager’s web portal, detailing each trailer’s mileage, periods of abnormal downtime, as well as wait-time, unhooked and towed status.

It also alerts on trailer overloading, and transmits the current pressure and temperature of every tyre on every axle.
